MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian military will return to their bases in Syria, that is, the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval base, if the Syrian army keeps its tempo of offensive on the cities seized by terrorists, State Duma deputy, Combat Brotherhood organization first deputy head Dmitry Sablin said.
"Today the Syrian army with assistance of Russian advisors is qualitatively changing and began a steadfast offensive. If they retain their pace of attack, if the key cities still being held by terrorists are liberated, the peace process will not be torpedoed, and the Russian military, who are ready to perform the tasks for combating terrorism, will serve at two modern and perfectly equipped bases in Hmeimim and Tartus handed over to our country," Sablin told Interfax on Thursday.
Russia will thus "mark its presence in the Mediterranean, whatever gnashing of teeth this causes to certain of our 'partners'," he said.
The Russian military are yet to return to their bases in Syria, that is, the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval base, providing the opportunity to the Syrian forces to operate effectively and achieve the results they are seeking for, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during an annual Q&A session on Thursday.
