National Guard to receive Federal-M armored vehicles in 2018 - Zolotov

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The Federal Service of National Guard Troops will continue procuring military and special vehicles developed with due account for its special tasks; next year Federal-M armored vehicles will replenish its fleet, Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov said in an interview with Interfax.

"As for Federal-M armored vehicles, they were adopted by the National Guard in February 2017. The vehicles will be used in military units guarding strategic and tactical state facilities. Troops will start receiving Federal-M vehicles next year," Zolotov said.

He said that the procurement of modern types of weaponry, military and special vehicles specially designed for law enforcement troops is planned for 2017 in the framework of the state defense contract.

"One of these samples is the special reconnaissance combat vehicle. It was developed by the Omsk Instrument-Making R&D Center. In 2015 it successfully passed state tests and was adopted by the National Guard in 2016," Zolotov said.

He said that the vehicle is meant for detecting and identifying targets at a distance of up to 10 kilometers and reporting intelligence data to the command post. The crew of the vehicle is protected by reliable armor. Its weapons are capable of shooting to a distance of up to 1.5 km.

"The special reconnaissance combat vehicle is a powerful means in the hands of intelligence and task forces of the National Guard permitting them to tackle all their tasks," the commander-in-chief said.

He also said that the delivery of Patrul armored vehicles to troops started in December 2016. The vehicles are already used by task forces of the National Guard. Patrul is meant for countering extremism and terrorism and also combating organized crime and armed formations of militants.
