Russia calls for respecting Syria's territorial integrity, avoiding unilateral actions uncoordinated with Damascus - Lavrov

BEIJING. June 19 (Interfax) - Russia is urging the United States to show respect for Syria's territorial integrity and to avoid unilateral actions in that country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in Beijing, following a meeting of the BRICS foreign ministers.

"As to the situation on the ground in Syria, we are positive that one should respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria prescribed by UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and other documents of the United Nations," Lavrov said in comments on the U.S. activity in southern Syria.

"Any operations on the ground, and there are numerous actors there, including those engaged in the hostilities, should be coordinated with Damascus," the minister said.
