BEIJING. June 19 (Interfax) - The Syria talks in Astana are due to take place on July 10, and the modality of the de-escalation areas will be fully formalized there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference shared with the other BRICS foreign ministers in Beijing on Monday.
"Today we have heard the opinion of our colleagues and friends on the efforts Russia has been taking together with Turkey and Iran in the course of the Astana process, the next round of which will take place on July 10 in the presence of the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura," Lavrov said.
"It was the meeting where the sides agreed to coordinate concrete parameters of the modality of the regime to be imposed in the de-escalation areas and on their perimeter," he said.
"As to the Syria settlement process, all BRICS member countries are interested in the implementation of [the UN Security Council] Resolution 2254," Lavrov said.
