Russia records 7, Turkey 6 truce breaches in Syria in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The situation in Syria's de-escalation areas has been stable in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a daily information bulletin on Monday.

"Russian members of the joint Russian-Turkish commission investigating ceasefire breaches have recorded seven shooting incidents in the provinces of Damascus (5) and Daraa (2) in the past 24 hours. Turkish members of the commission have recorded six breaches in the provinces of Damascus (4) and Daraa (2)," the bulleting said.

"Most cases of sporadic small arms fire were observed in the territories held by militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIL terrorist groups (banned in Russia)," it said.

The Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria held four humanitarian operations during the day, including three in the Aleppo city where 3.6 tonnes of drinking water were distributed amongst civilians, and the al-Quneitra province, where locals were supplied with 1.3 tonnes of food. The total weight of the relief stood at 4.9 tonnes, the ministry said.

"A total of 88 cessation-of-hostilities agreements were signed during the day, mostly in the Aleppo province. The number of populated localities engaged in the reconciliation process has thus grown to 1,717," the ministry said.

Negotiations on the cessation of hostilities continued with armed opposition units in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Homs, and al-Quneitra, it said.

"Four declarations were signed with the leaders of Ahrar ash-Sham units operating in the Aleppo province during the day. The number of armed units, which have agreed to cease fire, has thus grown to 223," the report said.
