Russia starts supplying MiG-29 to Egypt, pilots being trained - Rosoboronexport (Part 2)

PARIS. June 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has begun delivery of Mikoyan MiG-29 planes to Egypt, Rosoboronexport head Alexander Mikheyev told Interfax on Monday.

"The first deliveries have been made consistent with the contract. Pilots are being trained," Mikheyev said, replying to a question from Interfax.

Egyptian Deputy Defense Minister Mohammed al-Kishk told Interfax in late April that Egypt had received some of the MiG-29 planes under the contract.

There is information that Russia will deliver 46 planes to Egypt, in all.

The MiG-29 is a light fighter operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
