KALININGRAD. June 21 (Interfax) - The situation near Russia's western borders tends to deteriorate due to the military activity of NATO in Eastern Europe and the Baltic states, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the Defense Ministry board in Kaliningrad.

"The situation near our western borders tends to deteriorate. This is due to growing military activity of NATO member states in Eastern Europe. NATO is increasing its military presence in the Baltic states. The infrastructure of their sea ports, aerodromes and other military facilities is improving," Shoigu said.
