DPR militia loses no more than 50 men in 2017 - Donetsk (Part 3)

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Fatalities sustained by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) militia are substantially smaller than those in the Ukrainian army, the DPR Defense Ministry said.

"Our fatalities are way smaller. No more than 50 servicemen," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said earlier on Wednesday that roughly 120 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed in the Donbas hostilities since the beginning of this year.

In turn, Eduard Basurin of the DPR Defense Ministry accused Kyiv of understating the official statistics of Ukrainian army losses in Donbas.

"They have lost over 200 or even up to 300 men since the beginning of this year, and about 800-900 have been injured," Basurin said.

The militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) also provided information about casualties on its territory.

"The hostilities conducted on the contact line and the activity of Ukrainian sabotage-and-reconnaissance groups have caused the death of three civilians, five servicemen, and one OSCE employee since the beginning of this year," a militia spokesman said.
