DUSHANBE. June 21 (Interfax) - The commander of the Central Military District, Col. Gen. Vladimir Zarudnitsky has arrived in Tajikistan to inspect units and sub-units of Russia's 201st military base.
A working group from the Central Military District headquarters will inspect the formation in relation to combat readiness, combat skills, composition and condition, manning, and so on, the commander's assistant Yaroslav Roshchupkin told Interfax on Wednesday. The inspection plan also covers the Russian peacekeeping troops earlier redeployed to the region to train in unfamiliar areas.
"General Zarudnitsky will hold a series of working meetings with senior Tajik defense officials to discuss the situation on the Central Asian strategic direction, analyze the results of the Dushanbe-Antiterror-2017 exercise, which ended on June 1, and work out measures to further increase the operational compatibility of the two armies' command staffs and troops, and update joint combat-training plans," Roshchupkin said.
The Central Military District comprises three federal districts and 29 constituent regions of the Russian Federation. The Armed Forces' largest district also includes a number of foreign facilities: the 201st military base in Tajikistan, the Kant air base in Kyrgyzstan, and several bases in Kazakhstan.
