BAKU. June 21 (Interfax) - Two officers from the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) were injured on Tuesday in a landmine explosion on the Turkish-Iranian border, the ANAMA said in a statement.
"Two ANAMA officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident involving a mine explosion at 7:15 a.m. during an operation to demine territories on the joint border of Turkey and Iran," the statement says.
The injured were hospitalized. "The injured Azi Aslanov and Ruslan Gasymov received first medical aid, their lives and health are not at risk," the ANAMA said.
The demining in Turkey is carried out under an agreement with MECHEM. Thousands of landmines on the Turkish-Iranian border have been made safe since the demining started on April 19.
