Ukrainian Choice group leader Medvedchuk believes U.S. has yet to elaborate stance on Ukraine crisis

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Washington has yet to determine its stance on the Ukraine crisis, Ukrainian Choice nongovernmental organization leader and Ukraine's envoy for humanitarian affairs Viktor Medvedchuk said.

However, Medvedchuk said he is happy that both Ukraine and the United States acknowledge the Minsk accords' inviolability.

"Mr. Trump was clearly exaggerating when he said that presently, the U.S. is very seriously involved in the problems of Ukrainian politics. I get an impression that the U.S. has yet to elaborate a stance on the Ukraine crisis and the ways to settle it," Medvedchuk said on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television on Wednesday.

At the same time, he noted that both the U.S. and Ukraine are acknowledging the inviolability of the Minsk Agreements.

"What I am definitely happy with is the fact that we heard Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump say that the Minsk accords are inviolable and must be implemented," he said.

The Donbas conflict cannot be solved by use of force, Medvedchuk added.

"There is no way to solve the Donbas problem by the use of force. And those who disagree with this point of view are nothing but utopian visionaries and they can push the country, if they really can, and I hope this won't happen, to some bigger problems compared to those that exist today, considering the hostilities, which are ongoing, although in a ceasefire mode, and considering that people get killed, receive injuries and the country puts up with the hostilities that are going on," Medvedchuk said.
