LUHANSK. June 26 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has thwarted another attempt to disengage forces and hardware on the contact line in the Stanytsia Luhanska area, a spokesman for the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia told Interfax on Monday.
"Today, the Ukrainian side once again ignored the signal of our readiness to disengage forces and hardware in the Stanytsia Luhanska area. Thus, another attempt to disengage forces has been thwarted," the spokesman said.
Acting LPR militia chief Mikhail Filiponenko said, for his part, that the militia was fully prepared to disengage in Stanytsia Luhanska.
"The Luhansk People's Republic was again prepared to withdraw its forces and hardware in Stanytsia Luhanska today under the watchful eye of the OSCE and the JCCC, however, the Ukrainian side has refused to do so for an unknown reason," Filiponenko told reporters.
More than 40 attempts have been made to disengage forces and hardware in Stanytsia Luhanska.
