ST. PETERSBURG. June 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The latest corvette Gremyashchi armed with Kalibr cruise missiles will be launched in Russia within the next few days, Russian Navy Commander Adm. Vladimir Korolyov said.
"Literally within the next few days, the shipbuilding company Severnaya Verf will launch the Gremyashchy, a new project 20385 corvette, armed with precision weapons and engines manufactured in Russia," Korolyov said at a graduation ceremony of the best students of naval educational institutions in the Constantine Palace outside St. Petersburg.
Speaking about the Russian Navy's surface component, Korolyov said "the construction of frigate-class and corvette-class ships will be continued; they enjoy enhanced maneuverability and controllability and are armed with precision missile weapons and new-generation radar systems."
The corvettes of this project are armed with Kalibr cruise missiles.
