Techmash displays air bomb capable of hanging over water at IMDS 2017

ST. PETERSBURG. June 28 (Interfax) - The concern Techmash, a part of the Rostec state corporation, has presented the Zagon-2E anti-boat guided bomb at the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2017) in St. Petersburg, the concern's press service said.

The bomb was developed by a research engineering institute in Balashikha.

"The bomb is capable of 'hanging' over the water surface for up to four minutes," Techmash said.

The bomb is intended for hitting submarines that are in surface, periscope and underwater (up to 600 meters) positions and submarines on the ground in shallow and deepwater sea areas. The target detection range is up to 450 meters.

In comparison with its predecessor, the effectiveness of the bomb has increased by almost 200%, and the cost of achieving combat missions has decreased by two-thirds.

The Zagon-2E currently has no analogues, Techmash said.
