Kremlin aide Surkov, Abkhaz President Khadjimba to discuss Abkhazia development program, bilateral cooperation

SUKHUM. July 3 (Interfax) - Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov arrived in Abkhazia on a working visit on Monday.

"Vladislav Surkov and Abkhaz President Raul Khadjimba will discuss aspects of bilateral relations and continued development of Abkhaz-Russian relations at a meeting in Sukhum," the Abkhaz presidential press service said.

In particular, Khadjimba and Surkov plan to discuss the implementation of an investment program for promoting Abkhazia's socioeconomic development in 2015-2017.

During his previous visit to Abkhazia, Surkov said Russia was interested in Abkhazia's stability and the implementation of the investment program. He said financing under the investment program was protected and would reach Abkhazia in full and that Russia would deliver on all its commitments.

Head of the Russian presidential department for socioeconomic cooperation with the CIS countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia Oleg Govorun will also take part in the meeting.
