ASTANA. July 4 (Interfax) - Syrian opposition representatives have met with United States Acting Assistant Secretary of State Stuart Jones on the sidelines of the talks in Astana to discuss violations of the ceasefire in Syria, a Syrian delegation member, Yaher Abdrahim, told Interfax.
"There have been major violations by the regime and by allies. The violations occurred in the south and in Damascus. We notified the U.S. that there have been violations by the Kurds. The Kurdish military who occupied parts of Afrin and Raqqah are ousting Arabs, forcing them to leave these places. They claim to be fighting against ISIL [a terrorist organization, banned in Russia] and at the same time they are killing Arabs in Raqqah and in Afrin, forcing them to emigrate. It is the Kurdistan Workers' Party," Abdrahim said.
At a meeting with UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, the negotiators discussed the release of all prisoners, Abdrahim said.
"We also told de Mistura of the need to establish peace. We want peace, [want] to end the hostilities. All prisoners must be released. We want to see Syria united, we don't want to be divided into small states," Abdrahim said.
