ASTANA. July 5 (Interfax) - A document regarding two de-escalation areas in Syria may be signed at the end of the fifth Astana round of the Syria talks, a source close to the negotiations told Interfax.
"A document may be signed at least as regards two de-escalation areas at the end of Astana-5. At least, the sides have in principle agreed upon two areas so far. Coordination of other areas is in progress," the source said.
The Russian president's special envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told reporters on Tuesday that the first day of the Astana round yielded an agreement on two de-escalation areas in Syria while questions remained about Idlib and the southern area.
