MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The new frigate Admiral Essen, which has completed its transition from the Baltic fleet to the Black Sea fleet, has arrived in Sevastopol, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"During its stay in the permanent group of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean, the crew successfully achieved their combat tasks, delivering missile strikes on groups of terrorists in Syria along with the submarine Krasnodar," the Black Sea fleet press service said in a report obtained by Interfax-AVN.

In early May, the Admiral Essen joined the permanent operative unit of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean as part of its inter-fleet transition from the Baltic fleet to the Black Sea fleet.

On April 23, the Russian frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Grigorovich, and also the submarine Krasnodar fired Kalibr cruise missiles from the Mediterranean on terrorists from the group ISIL (banned in Russia) in Syria.
