MINSK. July 5 (Interfax) - The Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session will object to the 'restoration of sovereignty' resolution submitted by Ukraine.
"We are strongly opposed to the 'restoration of sovereignty' resolution submitted by Ukraine. We believe that a country, which has no sovereignty, has no right to be represented in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly," State Duma Vice-Speaker and head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pyotr Tolstoy told reporters in Minsk on Wednesday.
"Whom are we talking to if there is no sovereignty? Are we talking with the people elected in a part of Ukraine? This is not clear to us," Tolstoy said.
"There is no state without sovereignty. What kind of state is it? Kyiv and the suburbs? Is it Shukhevychfest?" he said.
"We are strongly opposed the very tone of this resolution, which, we believe, undermines the constructive spirit of cooperation and calls for confrontation inside the organization. Our PACE colleagues can see how a confrontation with Russia ends. Russia is not working there and is taking no part. We do not want the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to turn into a similar space of confrontation," Tolstoy said.
There are 36 clauses in the Ukrainian resolution, and "we have substantive and factual objections against all of them," he said.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is holding a summer session in Minsk on July 5-9.
