UNITED NATIONS (New York). July 6 (Interfax) - Russia stands against the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) complexes in Northeast Asia, as it puts the strategic security of Russia and China in the harm's way, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vladimir Safronkov said.
"The THAAD deployment in Northeast Asia inflicts serious damage on the strategic security interests of regional countries, among them Russia and China; it is at odds with the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the provision of peace and stability in the region on the basis of indivisible security," Safronkov said at the UN Security Council's meeting on North Korea.
