MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The T-14 Armata tank project is going through the R&D stage, Uralvagonzavod General Director Alexander Potapov said on Friday.
"The time of Armata tanks' delivery to troops will be chosen after the state trials. In other words, we are past the equator," Potapov told the newspaper Kommersant in an interview.
"We are working on every aspect," Potapov said. "T-14 is a prospective model, but it should still be viewed as a baseline one. This baseline model has a great future: its potential is much bigger than the initial-stage capacities," he said.
"We began production of the T-72 tank in the early 1970s, yet the T-72B3 tank remains a wonderful vehicle until now," he said.
