Putin, Trump have first face-to-face contact at G20 summit, shake hands - Peskov

HAMBURG. July 7 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has had the first face-to-face contact with U.S. President Donald Trump; the presidents shook hands and exchanged greetings on the G20 summit sidelines, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"They shook hands and told each other that they would have a separate meeting soon, they would see each other shortly," Peskov said.

Speaking of Trump's remark that he was looking forward to meet Putin and had lots of issues to discuss, Peskov gave an affirmative answer to the question whether the Russian president was equally eager to meet with the U.S. colleague and whether he had many questions to ask Trump.

"My answer is affirmative," the Kremlin press secretary said.
