Putin: we maintain contact with Kurds in Syria, but U.S. far ahead in terms of equipping them for combat

HAMBURG. July 10 (Interfax) - Moscow maintains contact with various groups of Kurdish fighters in Syria but on the question of supplying them with weapons the United States has done much better, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Overall, the Kurdish problem is very big and many-sided. We keep in touch with many Kurdish groups and make no secret of it," Putin told a press conference after the G20 summit.

"But, in terms of providing them with combat gear, here perhaps our U.S. colleagues are way ahead of us," Putin said.
