Kursk-stationed units perform combat training launches of Tochka tactical missiles in Astrakhan region

MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Servicemen of a missile formation of the Western Military District's combined-arms army stationed in the Kursk region have performed practice launches of Tochka-U tactical missiles in the Astrakhan region, the district press-service told Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"Combat crews conducted an overnight march yesterday to firing positions at the Kapustin Yar range. Following reconnaissance and missile positioning, the servicemen delivered a massive missile strike on the areas of mock armed group activity," the district said in a report.

Once combat training launches were complete, the servicemen moved from firing to reserve positions within 5 minutes and again struck mock enemy air defense means at a distance of 30 kilometers.

The missile drills began in the Kursk region on June 1. More than 500 servicemen and about 100 units of armaments and military hardware are engaged in the exercise.
