Peacekeeping missions could be deployed in Donbas only with consent of both conflict parties - Kremlin

MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - Initiatives on sending peacekeepers to Donbas should be discussed with both conflict parties, Russian presidential press officer Dmitry Peskov said.

"As to the deployment of any mission in Donbas, this issue was raised, and President Putin always emphasizes that the deployment of any mission is possible only with the consent of the opposing sides," Peskov told reporters, commenting on the relevant ideas of the Ukrainian administration.

In this situation, the opposing sides are the Ukrainian Armed Forces and representatives of the self-proclaimed Donbas republics, Peskov said.

"No doubt, it will be very difficult to discuss this issue further without any mutual contact and determining the possibilities of deploying a specific mission," Peskov said.
