MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is aware of the newspaper report on mass executions of citizens by shooting that allegedly took place in Chechnya, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"We have seen these reports, they were published in one newspaper. We have taken note of them. We have also taken note of the denials of this information by the interior affairs bodies of the Chechen Republic," Peskov told reporters on Monday.
"This information is rather anonymous, the source is this information is unclear, therefore I cannot say anything else to you now," he said.
On Sunday, Novaya Gazeta reported that at least 27 people who had earlier been detained for uncertain reasons at different times had been killed in Chechnya in the early hours of January 26.
