Eight Georgian citizens serving terms in Russia for espionage return home - Tbilisi

TBILISI. July 10 (Interfax) - The Georgian prime minister's special representative on relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze has said all citizens of Georgia who were serving sentences in Russian prisoners for espionage have been returned to their homeland thanks to his negotiations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.

"We have released eight of our citizens who were serving many years in prison for espionage in Russia. They are already in Georgia, they have returned to their families. They were facing several more years in Russian prisons," Abashize told a briefing on Monday.
