KYIV. July 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine needs to get rid of corruption, which is hindering real changes in the country, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
Ukraine has a lot yet to do; it should reinforce its institutions and overcome corruption, inertia, and obstruction of reforms, which are in the way of real changes, Stoltenberg said at the Verkhovna Rada on Monday.
Ukraine needs heroes capable of standing up against those opposing a bright future and who would fight corruption in all of its forms and manifestations, he said.
Ukraine is extremely in need of modern and efficient armed forces, strong and accountable democratic institutions, and strong and accountable democratic leaders, he said.
NATO has supported Ukraine for 20 years and will continue to do so in the future, he said.
