KYIV. July 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has instructed the government, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the country's central bank, to submit proposals on expanding of the list of individuals subject to anti-Russian sanctions, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said.
"The U.S. and the European Union have moved to introduce new sanctions against the Russian Federation and we cannot disregard these initiatives by our strategic partners. That is exactly why the initiators of sanctions under the law - and these are the Cabinet of Ministers, the SBU and the National Bank - have been ordered to submit relevant proposals to us. As soon as these proposals are submitted, the NSDC will issue a decision on expanding the list of personal special, economic and other kinds of restrictive measures, or sanctions, against physical and legal persons of the Russian Federation," Turshynov said at a news briefing after Monday's NSDC meeting.
