Syrian constitution revision, draft of new one may be discussed at Geneva talks - de Mistura

GENEVA. July 10 (Interfax) - It is likely that participants in negotiations in Geneva could exchange views on the issues of introducing amendments to the existing Syrian constitution and the draft of the new constitution, Staffan de Mistura, the United Nations secretary-general's special representative for Syria, said.

There are two or three approaches on the basis of which both Syrian parties can maintain a dialogue, he said at a press conference in Geneva on Monday. Those are examining the current constitution and amending or modernizing it in accordance with the realities or the process, which would result in the new constitution, he said.

However, he refrained from speculating on the possible outcome of such negotiations.
