Russia to comment on U.S. draft of UNSC resolution on North Korea after it is studied by experts - Russian mission to UN

NEW YORK. July 12 (Interfax) - Russia will make no comment on the content of the U.S. draft of the UN Security Council's resolution on North Korea until it is officially presented to UN Security Council members, spokesman for the Russian mission to the United Nations Fyodor Strzhizhovsky said.

"Russia will be able to speak its mind on this draft only after it is officially released in the Security Council and profoundly analyzed by experts," Strzhizhovsky told reporters, commenting on media reports about the U.S. draft of a new UN Security Council resolution on North Korea.

The United States has not formally released the draft resolution in the UN Security Council, the spokesman said.

The newspaper Izvestia said earlier with the reference to a source in the Russian diplomatic community that Moscow and Beijing would deny support to the new package of sanctions against North Korea on the grounds of missile tests when the document is put to vote in the UN Security Council.

"Moscow has elaborated the approach to this matter: it objects to additional sanctions," the Russian diplomatic source told the newspaper.

He also said that Russia and China would again put forward their plan of a settlement on the Korean Peninsula.
