MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - Russia has extended an agrement to Jon Huntsman's candidacy as United States Ambassador to Russia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Wednesday.
"We have agreed on this," he said on air of Rossiya-1 (VGTRK) television.
Moscow "is fully aware of Mr. Huntsman's biography, understands that he is a highly professional man, a person of firm beliefs, very experienced, the one who has seen a lot," the deputy minister said.
"He is a prominent businessman with a large fortune, a man of serious opinions," Ryabkov said.
"I don't think one can find in today's United States or simply in the media field at least anyone, regarding whom it would be impossible to dig some material to present in the media later," Ryabkov said, speaking of Huntsman's work record and the past.
Ryabkov also recalled that prior his official appointment as the U.S. ambassador in Moscow, Huntsman undergo the U.S. Senate's approval procedure.
Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump nominated former Utah governor Huntsman as the U.S. ambassador to Russia.
