LPR accuses Kyiv of avoiding discussion of bridge repair in Stanytsia Luhanska

LUHANSK. July 20 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian side is avoiding the discussion of the issue of the repair of the bridge in the area of the pedestrian checkpoint between Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) near Stanytsia Luhanska, Vladislav Deinego, the LPR envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas, said.

"We are trying to get an answer yes or no from the Ukrainian side. The Ukrainian side hears this question [regarding the repair of the bridge in Stanytsia Luhanska] as a new one, recently asked, each time. And each time it tells us they need extra time to examine the situation," Deinego told reporters on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, we were unable to achieve any result in this issue to date," he said.

"Absolutely all participants, except us, forget that this question has already been put point-blank during four recent meetings," the LPR envoy said.

All parties to negotiations in Minsk, including Kyiv, "determined that it is necessary to reconstruct this bridge," he said.

"But when we demanded to provide a written review of the project presented by the Red Cross, whether they [representatives of Ukraine] agree to the implementation of this project or not, Ukraine avoided responding again," Deinego said.
