Inter-service grouping in Crimea to raise Black Sea Fleet's operational, combat capabilities - document

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - Developing an inter-service grouping of forces on the Crimean peninsula is one of the navy's main tasks of boosting the Black Sea Fleet's capabilities, according to the fundamentals of the Russian state policy for naval affairs through 2030.

The presidential decree approving the document was published on the official legal information online portal.

In particular, the tasks of preventing military conflicts and providing strategic deterrence involve "ensuring the possibility of Navy ships using weapons, including long-range high-precision ones against any potential enemy," the document says.

Other tasks include "raising the operational and combat capabilities of Black Sea Fleet by developing an inter-service grouping of forces on the Crimean peninsula," the document says.

Ensuring a permanent Russian naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea and other strategically important parts of the World Ocean, including main transport communication routes, is also one of the navy's main tasks, the document said.
