Armata tank to enter service once Defense Ministry makes sure that it meets requirements - Borisov

ZHUKOVSKY. July 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The new Russian tank, T-14 Armata, could enter service in 2019, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said on Thursday.

"Nothing can be ruled out," Borisov said at the MAKS air show, when asked by Interfax-AVN whether Armata tank could enter service in 2019.

"It will be submitted and checked for compliance with all our requirements. And we'll be making a decision," Borisov said.

The testing of Armata could be completed in 2018-2019, after which its serial deliveries to troops are expected to begin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said earlier this year.

UralVagonZavod is planning to upgrade its production facilities for the serial production of Armata tank, the corporation said in an annual report in July.
