MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - The Progress MS-05 re-supply ship fell into the Pacific Ocean as part of a planned disposal operation after undocking from the International Space Station (ISS), a spokesman for the Russian Mission Control Center told Interfax.
"The cargo carrier entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and was routinely disposed of in the Pacific Ocean at 00:46 a.m. Moscow time on Friday," he said.
Progress MS-05 docked to the space station's Pirs (Pier) module and was expected to leave it by the middle of June in time for the arrival of the next re-supply ship, Progress MS-06, which eventually docked to another module - Zvezda.
Following the accident at the beginning of December 2016, the Progress MS-05 re-supply ship docked to the ISS on February 24, delivering around 2.5 tonnes of different supplies, including fuel, condensed gases, an Orlan-ISS spacesuit, equipment for scientific experiments, healthcare products, containers with food and water, other equipment and also parcels for the ISS crew. It will be removed from the orbit and disposed of in the ocean after undocking from the station.
