GENEVA. Aug 17 (Interfax) - A technical meeting may take place in Geneva in early September within the intra-Syrian negotiations framework, the UN Secretary-General's Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said at a press briefing on Thursday.
De Mistura said that the technical meeting between the UN team and the opposition originally scheduled for next week had been delayed at his decision.
Those negotiations will take place in early September, he said.
The Syrian government delegation does not want to attend the technical meeting, so the negotiations per se have been scheduled for October, de Mistura said.
In his opinion, September and October will be key months for the Syria settlement process. The Syrian crisis will undergo a qualitative change in the coming months, he said.
