Military pilots to drill destruction of enemy airfields in Astrakhan region

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Tactical aircraft will drop bombs and deliver strikes on mock enemy airfields in the Astrakhan region, a spokesman for the Southern Military District told Interfax.

"Crews of Sukhoi Su-24M and Su-25 jets will be relocated to the military district's operative airfields, including field sites, to practice strikes on mock enemy tactical airfields," the spokesman said.

The pilots will deliver strikes on ground targets in good and bad weather, in any time of day or night, amid jamming and 'enemy' air defense, he said.

The exercise involves more than 30 Sukhoi Su-24 multirole frontline bombers, Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft, and Su-25 ground attack planes, in addition to over 300 servicemen and more than 100 units of military and special hardware.
