SEVASTOPOL. Aug 18 (Interfax) - The reunification of Sevastopol with Russia is an act of restoring historical justice, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
Putin recalled during his meeting with scientists in the Tauric Chersonese National Preserve that USSR-subordinated cities like Sevastopol should have gone to Russia after the Soviet Union collapsed. However, they just forgot about Sevastopol, Putin said.
"That is a purely unique thing! They simply forgot!" Putin said.
The scientists attending the meeting commended the 2014 events that resulted in the city's reunification with Russia.
"What happened in 2014 is just a restoration of historical justice, there is no doubt about it," Putin said.
