Two people killed, 3 wounded in Ukrainian forces' attacks on DPR - Donetsk

DONETSK. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Two people were killed, and another three wounded in the Ukrainian armed forces' shell attacks on the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Eduard Basurin of the DPR Defense Ministry told reporters on Monday.

The Ukrainian forces' losses in a breakthrough attempt in the area of Donetsk Airport amounted to two servicemen killed and another five wounded, he said.

"Valentina Grigoryevna Voronezhskaya, born in 1948, was injured in shelling in the town of Yasynuvata while performing her duty of extinguishing a fire which broke out due to the Ukrainian armed forces' shelling of the Petrivsky neighborhood of Donetsk. One DPR Ministry of Emergency Situations employee was killed and another two employees were injured in precise fire from Donbas nationalist battalion positions," Basurin said.

DPR militia also averted an attempt by a motorized infantry platoon of the 57th Ukrainian armed forces separate motorized infantry brigade for further attack on Donetsk in the area of the airport on Sunday, he said.

"We had to give an adequate and proportionate response to attacking hostiles and successfully disrupted the performance of a task assigned by the Ukrainian leadership on the eve of Ukrainian Independence Day. Ukrainian troops' losses amounted to two servicemen killed and another five wounded, an armored personnel vehicle was hit as well [...] A DPR armed forces serviceman was killed while defending the republican border," Basurin said.
