LUHANSK/KYIV. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has conducted 11 attacks on the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the past 24 hours, killing an LPR militiaman and wounding two militiamen and a number of civilians, the LPR militia told Interfax.
"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 11 times during the day using 120mm artillery, 120mm and 82mm mortars, mounted automatic grenade launchers, mounted anti-tank grenade launchers, anti-tank guided missiles, infantry combat vehicles, and small arms," the report said.
According to the LPR militia, the Ukrainian army shelled militia positions in the vicinity of Berezovske, Krasnyi Yar, Kalynove, Pervomaisk, and Zholobok.
The attack on Krasnyi Yar damaged facades of residential buildings, destroyed a utility building, and hit a low-pressure gas pipeline, while two residential buildings caught fire in Kalynove, the militia said.
The attacks wounded two civilians and two militiamen, and killed one militia serviceman, it said.
Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) saw 43 attacks by the Ukrainian army over the past day.
"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 43 times during the day. The army shelled the vicinity of 19 populated localities in the republic using artillery, tanks, mortars, infantry combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms," a spokesman for DPR operational command told reporters.
Eight homes were damaged in Donetsk and the village of Naberezhne as a result of the attacks, he said.
"Voronezhskaya Valentina Grigoryevna born in 1948 was wounded in an attack on Yasynuvata," the spokesman said.
In turn, Kyiv reported 47 ceasefire breaches by the militias.
"In most cases of attacks on our positions, Ukrainian soldiers intensively fired for effect. Two Ukrainian defenders were wounded and three more sustained combat injuries as a result," the army operation staff said.
It said the enemy shelled strongholds in the Avdiivka industrial zone using grenade launchers, heavy machineguns, mortars, and a mobile Grad rocket launcher in the Donetsk sector. Mortars were fired twice in the vicinity of Opytne, and 122mm artillery shelled Ukrainian positions near Kamyanka and Pisky.
In the Mariupol sector, grenade launchers and small arms were used against strongholds in the vicinity of Vodyane, Krasnohorivka, Pavlopil, Mariinka and Talakivka, while small arms were fired against Mariinka, the staff said.
In the Luhansk sector, Ukrainian army positions came under grenade launcher attack near Krymske and Novooleksandrivka, the staff said.
