MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has recorded three instances of gunfire in Syria's de-escalation areas, and Turkey has observed another one in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The Russian part of the joint Russian-Turkish commission investigating breaches of the cessation of hostilities has recorded three instance of gunfire in the Latakia governorate in the past 24 hours. The Turkish part of the commission has registered one violation in the Idlib governorate," the ministry said in a report circulated in Moscow.
"Most instances of random small arms fire were seen in the areas held by the Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIL terrorist groups [both banned in Russia]," it said.
Negotiations on joining the cessation of hostilities continued with armed opposition units in the governorates of Aleppo, Idlib, Damascus, Hama, Homs, and Quneitra, the ministry said.
The number of armed units that have agreed to cease fire remains unchanged, it said.
