Patrushev, Kyrgyz president discuss military-technical cooperation, counterterrorism in Bishkek

BISHKEK. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has discussed bilateral cooperation in the military-technical field and the war on terrorism with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev visiting Bishkek for working consultations between law enforcement agencies, the presidential press service told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The meeting addressed further development of relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia in the military-technical field and key aspects of interaction in the fight against terrorism and extremism," the press service said.

"In addition, President Almazbek Atambayev and Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev discussed topical aspects of the provision of regional and international security," it said.

Kyrgyz and Russian law enforcers are due to have bilateral consultations in Bishkek on Wednesday on the subject of the joint fight against terrorism and extremism, military and military-technical cooperation, and an improved legal status of Kyrgyz citizens staying in Russia.
