Botswana shows interest in Russian small arms, communications, air-defense systems

PATRIOT PARK, Moscow region. Aug 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Botswana is interested in Russian air-defense and communications systems, engineering equipment and weapons for the motorized infantry, the Botswana Defense Force's Deputy Commander Maj. Gen. Gotsileene Morake said.

"We are mainly interested in small arms for the infantry, air defense systems, communications and engineering equipment. Today's war is very different from the conventional warfare, we are waging the war against international terrorism, and to that end we need the most advanced weapons and equipment," Morake said at the Forum-2017 international military-technical forum on Wednesday.

He said that over the coming days he is due to meet with Concern Kalashnikov and Rosoboronexport representatives.

The Russian soldier protection system is "state-of-the-art," the general said. He is also impressed by the organization of the forum.

"I like absolutely everything here: the infrastructure, the location, the convenience, the scale of the show - everything is grand," Morake said.
