MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - The Russian president's special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, on Thursday received a delegation from the Syrian Kurdish National Council led by Chairman Ibrahim Biro; the delegates are currently visiting Moscow on the invitation of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Oriental Studies.
"Over the course of the meeting, the sides had an extended exchange of views on the current military-political situation in Syria, with an emphasis on the prospects for its stabilization through a political process led by Syrians themselves on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The Russian side reaffirmed the support of the efforts on the formation of a single delegation of the Syrian opposition for the talks with the Syrian government delegation under the aegis of the United Nations in Geneva," the ministry said in a statement.
"However, the sides highlighted the need for a full representation of the Syrian Kurds and an inclusive intra-Syrian dialogue aimed to promptly achieve a political settlement in Syria for the benefit of all ethnic and religious groups in the Syrian society and in the name of maintaining the country's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity," the statement said.
