Astana talks on Syria facilitating decrease in violence in country - Nazarbayev

ASTANA. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Astana venue for resolving the Syrian issue has facilitated a significant decrease in violence in Syria, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

"Astana offered its venue for negotiations of all parties involved in the Syrian conflict. And we make our contribution to the resolution of this conflict by peaceful means. Five rounds of negotiations have been held in our capital so far. The level of violence in Syria has significantly decreased as a result of these negotiations," Nazarbayev said during a joint statement following negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Astana on Saturday.

"The opportunity to return this country to a peaceful life is created by means of such efforts," he said.
