MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has sent a letter to Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura to request additional international efforts towards helping the Syria population, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The document noted that governmental troops supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces have freed a considerable part of Syria's territory from terrorists. Conditions have been created for the restoration of peaceful life. However, according to Shoigu, not all Syrians can rapidly return home," the statement obtained by Interfax-AVN on Monday said.
"Thousands of residential buildings, schools, and medical and social facilities lie in ruins," it said.
"Shoigu said that refugee camps in the at-Tanf and Uqayribat areas, with a population of about 60,000, were suffering humanitarian problems," the statement said.
