DAMASCUS. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed military and military-technical cooperation in Damascus on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Shoigu went on a working trip to Syria on Russian President Vladimir Putin's order, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Topical issues of military and military-technical cooperation in the context of successful actions taken by Syrian governmental troops backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces seeking to complete the elimination of the ISIL terrorist group [outlawed in Russia] in Syria were discussed at the meeting," the ministry said.
