MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov says he has organized the evacuation of two young Chechen children from Iraq.
"The Russian citizens, natives of Chechnya, Khadizh Khusenov and Adlan Dakayev, who are eight and nine years old, flew from Baghdad to Russia today, accompanied by my representative to the Middle East and North Africa, Ziyad Sabsabi," Kadyrov wrote on Instagram.
The plane will touch down in Moscow late at night, he said. "This is the finale of the enormous job carried out at my behest by the working group led by Ziyad Sabsabi. People are risking their own lives to save the life of even one child taken away by his own parents to certain death," Kadyrov wrote.
"It is not the children's fault that they were thrown into the heat of a foreign war. So we will spare no effort for [their] rescue," the Chechen leader stated.
