Anonymous bomb threats received at over 70 Moscow sites on Wed, more than 100,000 people evacuated - source

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - More than 100,000 people have been evacuated in Moscow in the past 24 hours due to anonymous bomb threats, an informed source told Interfax on Thursday.

Moscow emergency services received 65 anonymous calls with threats of explosions at over 70 sites on Wednesday. "[The calls] mentioned educational establishments, shopping malls, rail terminals, hotels, and other public buildings," the source said.

More than 100,000 people had to be evacuated, he said.

Another source said on Wednesday that the police had opened a criminal inquiry into the false reports of pending terror attacks. Security services are participating in the inquiry.
